Overview

Mr Jackie Tey is a recipient of MOH Holdings’ Health Science and Nursing Scholarship for Podiatry and began his podiatry career at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) followed by Sengkang General Hospital (SKH). During his time serving in public healthcare institutions, he was part of a multidisciplinary team and worked closely with Orthopaedic surgeons, Vascular Surgeons and Endocrinologists in treating patients with complex diabetic foot complications. He was also involved in clinical research to help improve care delivery and patient outcomes. His passion and genuine care earned him recognition and awards during his time at SKH. His dedication to patient care also led to the innovation of a new negative pressure wound dressing technique, for which he and his team won the first prize internationally.

Aside from his commitments to diabetic foot care, Mr Tey also has extensive experience in treating patients with musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, and paediatric lower limb conditions. He has a strong interest in lower limb biomechanics and sports injuries and is very well-regarded by his peers for his deep knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of various lower limb conditions. His interest in these areas was led by his experience in growing up with flatfeet and competing in basketball, hockey and volleyball. These experiences have also given him a keen ability to relate to patients with sports injuries and the first-hand experience to treat them effectively.

Background

Having developed a strong interest in the medical field since young, Mr Tey pursued a Diploma in Biomedical Sciences and went on to receive the Health Science and Nursing Scholarship by MOH Holdings to study Podiatry in Australia.

Mr Tey graduated top of his class with First Class Honours in Podiatry from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia. Throughout his studies, he was awarded the Faculty of Health Executive Dean’s Commendation List every semester. His academic excellence has also won him the Charles W Graves Award for Orthotics and Leonard K Claxton Award for Clinical Studies by the Australian Podiatry Association. He is currently serving as a Clinical Fellow at QUT.

Mr Tey is grateful for the opportunity to study and treat patients overseas as that gave him the skill to connect with patients of diverse backgrounds with ease. He wishes to apply his knowledge and skills to care for patients and to increase the awareness of Podiatry in Singapore.
